Foundation Training Programme
What is the Foundation Training Programme?
Our Foundation Training Programme is for students aged 10-13 and focuses on building a solid technical foundation and understanding in classical ballet in a professional, pre-vocational setting with the aim of eventually moving to our Advanced Training Programme. These students train with us up to twice a week in sessions comprising of strength and conditioning, ballet class, pointe preparation and pointe work when assessed ready. This Programme has two levels and we expect students to spend 2/3 years here. Our Programme teachers have all trained under internationally acclaimed teacher and principal dancer Yoko Ichino in the Ichino Technique. This technique helps dancers to develop healthy minds and bodies and is based on an in-depth knowledge of the scientific effects of dance on the human body.
All successful auditionees and current FTP students and guardians receive an updated handbook ahead of each season which states what is expected of them whilst training with us. Students also complete an assessment towards to end of each season to monitor progress, suitability to continue the Programme and help staff tailor training to individual students needs.
